7X15 and 8X15 tire recommendations

I have an '84 Carrera and am looking for tire recommendations from those of you who run the same size wheels. Looking for best dry performance.

Currently thinking of Toyo RA-1's (205's F and 225's R) but I would also consider a higher profile tire that did a better job of filling out the wheel wells as long as I didn't have to sacrifice too much grip.

Thanks

I think that's a good choice. You aren't going to find anything grippier without sacrificing wear. You could go to Kumho V710s or Hoosier R3S05 (which you could fit in 225 F and 245 R on those rims) for the ultimate grip in the dry, but they won't wear like the RA-1, and they won't work nearly as well in the wet. The Toyos are a good compromise, and will outperform any common street tire.

You could run 225's all around instead of the 205's up front and 225's in rear. I met a POC guy once that was running 245's all around on an early model 911 (Sadinsky, maybe?) and I asked him if it didn't have an oversteer problem. He said it really handled pretty well and that the turn-in was phenomenal. You don't have to brake or let off much at all to turn. You just turn the wheel and it goes.

245's would be nice in the rear, but there are only a few models in a 15" size. I wouldn't want Dunlops.

Just a thought.

Oh, and I bought some RA1's based on some Pelican's inputs(there's a thread somewhere) and I Love 'em! Nice tires. I like them better than the Yokohama A032's and better than ye olde BFG R1's that I ran before that.

Thanks guys.
