1957 Speedster in Mexico

I know some people that have friends in Mexico and since they know that I like Porsches one of them has found a '57 Speedster for sale in Mexico. All I know so far is that it's red and in excellent condition. Ok here is the thing, the asking price is $9,000. What should I do? How can I find out if this is legitimate without flying all the way to Mexico and finding out? Also, I already have 2 pcars and not much $$$ or room left in my garage. I'll try to see if I can get some pics and post them later. Thanks guys, I wish all problems in life were like this.

The first rule of barn finds is you never mention barn finds. You don't let out a peep about it until it's safely in your garage.

The second rule is, bring everything home, and then decide what goes and stays.

The third rule is, don't get married

Or it may be real and our friend will obtain a mint 57 speedster (which will turn out to actually be a 550 spyder) with racing pedigree for $9000 !

I do not think that they are selling a Speedster for 9,000, maybe a Mexican made replica.
Ask for pictures and VIN, title is no use, Mex authorities do not know anything about Porsches. Mine is a 911T and in the Mex docs they put 911 Turbo.
Someone was offering a real Speedster in Mexico for about 60,000.

Keep dreaming a 550, the only one we knew that was in Mexico, appeared in Excellence magazine a couple of months ago.
There is a Gmünd in Mexico City, not for sale, that they are restoring for years now.

Get the VIN and have the local PD run it to see if it is stolen. Thousands of stolen cars end up in Mexico every year. I would not buy the car without seeing it in person because if you get taken by someone in Mexico you will never recover the money.

Amir : To good to be true , but seems to me that this is a replica, I have seen a recent add in an Internet Web Page : www.autoplaza.com.mx go to Porshes "all" , as a Member of the official Porsche Club of Mexico I have seen members speedsters from : $30,000 - $45,000 usd Originals and fully documented those are not cheap .

Anyhow if you need more info. e-mail me maybe I can help with the Club Members , next Saturday's is the Official Breakfast Meeting so I can ask there.

Good Luck .

No, I have not seen it , Do you have the Web Page so I can check it from here?. Anyhow seems to me that is a replica (very common here in Mexico : Fiberglass Body + VW Engine) look at the Front Bumpers, Outside mirrors , the Wipers and the wheels : Those are not original from I can see in the pictures.
