'89 Carrera Paint Question
Does anyone know if Porsche put a clearcoat on the '89 Model year cars or is it single stage.
I'm trying to decide which type polish is best for my paint. |

Metallics are clear coated. I'd doubt that solids were since I have a '96 in Guards red that's single stage. To verify use a bit of fine polish on a small section if no color on your towel then it's clearcoat.

Try the least abrasive first. To clean the paint up, start with a noe-cleaner wax. If there is a clear coat, no color will come off on the rag. If there's color, it's single stage. If a cleaner wax doesn't clean it up, go for a polishing compound. As for brand, that brings up as many opinions as the oil question. Mcguiars and Mothers are the 2 most popular. As for the final wax, I use Zymol Carbon (for dark colors) The reflections/gloss is unbeliveable. Here is a pics of my car after waxing it.
