Carrera 3.2 owners w/Intensive washers
I need to install the dash lip mounted switch for the intensive washer system in my '89 3.2 Silver Anniversary.
The switch was never installed from the factory! I have all of the required wiring but wanted to know the proper direction of the switch as installed. Does the normally flat/flush part of the switch face toward the steering column or outward? Thanks, David

Not a great photo but see arrowed. It sits here just behind the indicator stalk where you can easily bump it. It is placed east/west (sideways)
In case you were scratching your head about where the steering wheel is located on my car......................I purchased it as an 89 German ROW then converted it to right hand drive. Before I converted it was located in this same exact position, to the left of the wheel and under the instrument panel.

Only problem with that picture is that on the U.S. cars that is where the switch is for the power mirrors. The intensive washer is on the other side of the steering column in about the same position.

What Kurt said and the flat faces away from the column.

Hey guys...thanks so much! I'll be popping in the switch soon. You know the hole is there in the dash but the vinyl dash material is covering the hole. I'm guessing that I should make an "X" cut in the material over the hole and then push the switch into place.
Kind of an odd omission on the car don't you think. Makes you wonder if anything else was left off. Anyway thanks again! David

Craig-
Yeah all is there...tank with 20 year old solvent, pump, hoses, dual outlet nozzles and wiring but they forgot to install the switch! You would have thought that along the way after 18 some years someone would have noticed. It was the first thing I noticed as I was inspecting the car prior to purchasing. David

The intensive cleaning system was a factory option. Maybe the dash/pod in your car isn't the original one?

Dave,
Now that is an interesting thought! I gave it a few mins. to stir around in my head and then rejected it based on the knowledge I have of this cars history. This car was basically a garage queen its whole life until I bought it. The selling/servicing dealer knew the past history and there is no indication of a dash pod replacement in the past. So it looks like a simple oversight from the factory. (I hope!) David
