Quick Brake Line Question

Buying SS brake lines from our host and need to know the size of the flare-nut wrench that i need to do the job?

Also - I want to flush the entire brake system, how much brake fluid do I need to have for this project?

Thanks!!

David,
I can't remember the exact sizes but Sears carries a multi size pack for a good price. You end up using more than one.

as for fluid I would count on at least a quart, maybe more depending on how much air gets in the lines.

When I did a full rebuild, including calipers, it took a few quarts before I had it right.

YMMV

The flare wrench needed is 11mm.......I bought mine from Pelican. I come with a 9mm on the other end. Just used it yesterday. Replacing my master cylinder & doing the pedal cluster thing.....

one quart of super blue (blue or gold) is plenty of fluid for a full flush. If you are using a clear fluid, use super blue so you know when the new stuff has reached the caliper you are flushing. Use a fresh can and only open it when you are ready to do the flush.

If all you are doing is changing fluid, I agree. However, when you open up the system (lines etc.) it can take more than that.

At least that's how mine went and other guys' too....
