Steering boot replacemnet - tips req.
Right side steering boot is torn - ordered replacement from our host.
What do I need to do to get the new one on? I was looking at it trying to figure out if I can slip the new boot on without removing the rack. Maybe just seperate the tie rod at the inner or outer connection. Anybody done this before? I still have the standard tie rods on my '74. Thanks, Don |
Yes, remove the tied rod end and you can slip the new boot on. Make a reference mark so you can put it back together with alignment issues.

The outer end would be the best way if you don't plan on doing anything but the new boot. Might be time for the Turbo tie rods? The originals are over 30 years old. Probably getting pretty tired.
