Help Exhaust Leak
i HAVE A 1973 2.4L 911 WITH THE MOST ANNOYING TICKING SOUND. ITS NOT THE VALVES AND MY FREIND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN AN OLDER JETTA IT WAS A MANIFOLD PROBLEM ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO GO ABOUT LOOKING FOR THIS PROBLEM AND HOW TO DETECT IT?

Use a long rubber hose, put your ear up to the hose and move the other end to each of the exhaust flanges and listen. If you have a leak at the flange, you will hear it.

An exhaust leak doesn't really make any noise, though. I've got bad leaks on both flanges, and I can't hear a thing coming from them. You can definitely feel the exhaust air puffing out, though. Feel both under and above the flange.
