tire width advantage / disadvantage

Ok you Tire nutz.

I can sum up all tires in 3 categorys, but i need advice/opinions.

1. Tires that are narrower than the rim.

2. Tires that are exactly the same width of the rim.

3. Tires that are wider than the rim.

What is the best for street use/ Track use/ auto cross / No use?

( i guess i am wondering if i should put 285's or better on my 13" rears. the 275's Look to be exactly the width of my rim.)

On 13's, you could run as wide as 335's and improve your laptimes, unless you have a very low-hp car. What tire are you running in front?

front are currently 225s, the 235s were 1/2 inche Taller and with the 1" spacers was hitting the Oil lines.

But 235s looked like the Back tires ...Chisled on the Rim.
