Oil line repair?

Grabbed this image from the parts section:

My question is how can I stop the threaded connection from leaking? I'm re-installing my engine today, well yesterday and today and I want to try and "clean" this fitting up. Anyone had any success is using some say 1000 grit paper on the mating surfaces? I don't want to stop at this point and drop the header to replace this line.
