Lowering 911 question Just curious, My front spoiler on my 77 911 (Stock) already seems to hit everything. Does lower the car an inch mean the spoiler will sink an inch? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1143739877.jpg Thanks, David |

Basically, yes. If you want to get exact, it depends if you lower the front and rear equal amounts, but basically, if you drop the front (or whole car) an inch, that spoiler is going to be an inch closer to the ground. |

 New car David? |
|
Ah forget that, I already hit everything now. Thanks. |

No new car. I have also been unable to load newer pictures so I just uploaded an old picture before the paint job. David |

With all us Boston guys, we need to get another car get together going. What do you think? |
|
Still have the front spoiler? Thinking of adding one..... |
|
Yes, it is just the stock one but it is very low to the ground. I seem to hit alot with it. Not hard but it definitely scraps from time to time. |
|
Mine did that to until I installed a bigger front swaybar (20 mm). |

I've called a couple guys today and I have just given up on the whole lowering thing. I just don't have the money. I give up competing where I can't compete. I will just replace all my inserts, and replace sway bar bushings, already put TT rods in last week, pay $125 to get it driving straight again, get some seat time autocrossing and beat the crap out it. I will also stick to my original plan and lighten as much as I can without doing anything extreme. It is amazing how the cost can escalate so fast. I guess we can't have everything. Thanks everyone for the help, David |

Oh, my sway bar in the front is 20mm. Would it be stock for a 77? Thanks, David |
|
Do you have a place to work on it? If so, you can do it yourself... Quote:

David, Your front spoiler looks extremely low but the space between the top of front tire and the wheel opening looks like a lot. My SC is at 24.5 front and 24 rear and I don't hit anything in the front. Just an observation. Nice color, BTW. |

Hi Thom, I could and was going to lower the car in my garage but then I would get into the issues of the whole fine tuning of everything else. With limited tools, we are still talking serious money. I have to be realistic at some point. I I wrote earlier, we can't have everything, what would we look forward to? Oh, I am still going to drive the crap out of it with a huge smile on my face. Can't wait to the first autocross of the year. David |

That's the old color, I am Mexicana Blue now. Where do I measure? For giggles, I'll do it tonight? Thanks, David |
|
Measure from a level surface to the bottom of the wheel well. At least that's where I measure my ride height. The "correct" way is to measure from the suspension points but that is a major PIA. Do you have 15inch Fuchs? |

16mm front and no bar in the rear would be stock, but the 20 front / 18 rear was optional. |
|
The measurement is made perpendicular from the road surface, up through the centerline of the hub to the underside of the wheel arch. The front measurement should be 1/2" longer than the rear. |
