1974 RSR Photos Please
I've decided on the 1974 RSR body style for my track car project. I'm trying to decide on color and was hoping for some examples.
Thanks- Craig Backer |
Very cool. Thanks Dave! Curious on the last photo of the white car - why do the front fender vents look smaller than normal?
Thanks- Craig |
So, what kind of flares RSR has on front and back? Is the size of the front comparable to 930 flares? Obviously rear ones are wider, by how much?
|
Flares are 11" front and 14" rear compared to 930 at 9" and 11" respectively.

Pick a period-correct color like the #95 picture in the 1st (sort of) and the second picture. Of course, my mid year car is Sahara Beige like the car in the second picture looks so I am biased, but if you're picking the '74 RSR look I'd stay right with the period.

This is one of the most immaculate 3.0 RSR replicas around. Sorry the pics are so small.

Does anyone know a guy named 'Stanton Beck'?
I saw him at Pacific Raceways about three years ago with his white '74 RSR. What a beautiful car it was. It was serious eye candy. The friend I was with who didn't know much about the Porsche's thought I was nuts as I acted like a mere infant in its presence. Amazing car. |

"white car.. front vents smaller than normal?"
it could be the angle of the shot , or more likely the 'glass maker made them a little narrower |

Here's another one...the '77 Daytona 24 winner.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1143840840.jpg

I'm reviving this thread seeing as I'm getting close to finishing up my PRC GT-L track car wearing 74 rsr duds and need some more ideas for the little stuff (mirrors, trim, etc.)
Thanks- Craig Backer |
Here are some shots with some detail.

I am totally nuts about '74 RSRs. Earlier this year, I commissioned illustrator Guy Allen to do our 2007 shirt artwork, depicting a pair of 3.0 RSRs in battle. Guy did a superb job of it and we later added a circuit background and turned it into a limited edition signed print.
There is an RSR just down the road from me, same colour as my Carrera 3 and utterly fantastic, one of a number of RSRs owned by the same Porsche fan. This is the car: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1176921162.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1176921185.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1176921579.jpg There are hundreds and hundreds of RSR pics on Armando Serrano's amazing pbase pages here. Similar link posted above but another one good for his Google rating LOL. Should keep you busy for a few days ;) |
