Mating G50 and 3.2
 

I am having trouble putting the G50 and 3.2 back together. I have aligned clutch disk 2 times, but get stopped 1.5-2 cms from aligning cross shaft. Could there be another hangup?

Need more info. Did you change the guide tube? How did you align the clutch disc? With a tool or by eyeballing it? Is your fork taped up? Got any photos? You might need to turn the engine crank by hand just a tiny bit.

The only thing I can think of is that the splines aren't engaging. Put the trans in 5th and rotate the CV flanges to get the input to turn and line up the splines.

Can you see inside the bell housing to be sure that the release arm isn't hanging up on the throwout?

The alignment of the clutch disk doesn't make any difference until you get way past engaging the release fingers into the throwout bearing.

Oh yeah. I forgot. Moving the tranny flanges is easier than turning the engine over.

Thanks. I aligned 1st with a 915 tool, taped up and figured that was the issue, so bought a universal tool, and aligned again. Release bearing is taped, and guide tube had been updated so I didn't change it, the bearing is not hanging up on throw out, just overlapping it on both sides. My guess is that the shaft is not 100% aligned with bearing in flywheel, but it should be after 2 alignments. How perfect does it need to be?

How far is the trans flange from the engine flange?

Your first post said that is was 1.5 to 2 cm from "aligning cross shaft". Is it 1.5 to 2 cm from completely engaged?

I had a problem also I loosened the presure plate bolts then pushed it in then retorqued the bolts!

I think this is either the problem, or is a victim of the problem. I'll get another release bearing, and try again.
