Coming out of storage

Any tips on bringing my car out of storage. I plan on draining the fuel (and replacing it obviously). I have the batteries out for charging. And of course will do a complete cleaning of every inch. Any other ideas would be appreciated. It has only been stored since mid-December so it's not like a ten year lay away or anything.
Thanks,
Mike

Since mid-December? I wouldn't even worry about the gas. Just go drive the car.

I recently started my 911 after sitting since before Decomber. I just hooked the battery back up and it started right away.

I was thinking along those lines as well. It has carbs, would that be of any greater concern? I filled it no too long before putting it away.

I think you'll be fine. Mine was sitting since last Oct, went out yesterday and took it off the trickle charger, turned the key and it started with a second. Runs perfectly.

Same here. Put her to bed in late November, and no action in the engine since then until 2 weeks ago. A couple pumps of the gas pedal, turn the key and she fired right up after about 2 full seconds of turning over. Almost brings a tear to your eye...

Man that's so strange, to think of not driving the 911 for months at a time. Oh well, it's sunny and 82 out.
This is NOT a slam, I'd just go nuts not getting to take her out whenever.

The STi is a more than adequate substitute during the winter

Oh, it's sunny and 33 out.

Clear blue skies and 30F today, I'm charging the batteries as we speak. I'll let you know how it goes.
Jaydubya, nice powder shot. It's been 7 years since I was on skis...way too long indeed. The last time was at Lake Louise, Alberta in March '99, it looked a lot like that. South Western Ontario is definitely not the place to be a skier. I used to ski at least three days a week when I didn't need to work for a living. What are you ridding in that pic?

I would change the oil, and filter. I wouldn't be to worried about the fuel.Try fuel stabilizer before you put the car away before this winter.

That's not me, it's some other lucky person. That was from two days ago, on the Picture of the Day site at The Canyons. That person is on telemark skis.

I thought thats what they were, but the tip looks like it could be a snowboard. I was starting to think things had changed so much since I had skied that boarders were using poles too.

sorry to hijack this thread, but I will be in a similar situation in 2-3 months as the car has been run periodically every 3-4 months but the gas may be a year- 18 months old!
Should I dump the fuel or run it also- are there any addatives to help clean out any gum in the carbs if necc.?
I will be having an oil change and valve check done before any serious driving!.
thanks
Ben
