Another shift coupler question

I can't get my porsche out of reverse, the first thing I was told to check was the shift coupler. Everything looked solid, but I removed it to check the bushings.

Seems like there's a lot of slop in the coupler. Is that how you know the bushings are bad?

TIA

Slop in the coupler itself is ( unfortunately) normal...do a search where I mention this several times....

The aftermarket bushings I purchased from Pelican do not have the "factory" Porsche built in slop.

The original poster is advised to look at adjustment as well as the "other" area for bushing wear..like the ball/cup directly under the shift lever...

If everything worked before but you can't get it out of reverse...I'd suspect adjustment first....

After taking the coupler out and putting it back in, it now shifts correctly.

What I was looking for was how do you "know" it's time to replace the bushings?
