Is this my oxygen sensor?
Hi Guys,
Thread kinda speaks for itself. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1144045536.jpg Thanks alot, Adam |
Yes. Looks a bit frayed.
|
yer... i guess i need to replace it then...
that would explain the 19mpg i'm getting lol Is it meant to plug into the centre socket in the engine bay? I'm not sure if you can call that area the DME... |
DME is under drivers seat. My wiring harness was screwed up due to age and was "retrofitted" to save on $. Can't answer about the center socket.

That 02 sensor is in the wrong place to do any good. What happend to the one in front of the cat?
|
somebody told me, that what slodave says is the o2 sensor is to sense if the cat is overheating? which i thought was probably crap...
|
Could it be that the cat was put in backwards?
|
If say i leave the o2 sensor disconnected, is it okay to just adjust the mixture to compensate for the engine running very rich?
|
I did that for a while, but the car never ran right. My problem was with a broken sensor. I finally spent the $ and had a new sensor installed. The problems went away. Do you need the cat in AU?
Dave |
yer we do.. unfortunately... but my car is a US spec grey import, so the DME is set up for an oxygen sensor anyway
So can somebody confirm, that the oxygen sensor is in the wrong spot? |
I think you cat is reversed. If you put it in the other way, the sensor should be on top left side of cat. <- diagonal from the way you have it now. I would think the sensor is shot as are the wires. I'd see about replacing both and possible reversing the cat.
Dave |
does it make and difference that the sensor is aft of the cat?
|
I would think so. The DME wants to get info on the exhaust before it gets "cleaned" up by the cat.
Dave |
umm.. look like it but howcome it's on the side, never one on the side. Easy to replace then.
