Rennline 3 point Strut Brace

My '78 SC Coupe is not a track car or even a daily driver. Like many of us it is a sunny day fun car and I love it for that. Doing twisties on the back roads of the Sierra foothills is a blast for sure.

A local friend just added the Renline 3 Point strut brace to his Cab..but that's a Cab and of course it made a big difference. My question is...given the use of my Coupe will this 3 Point strut brace make an appreciable difference in the car's handling? Of course it LOOKS very cool to be sure.

I added a brace and noticed nothing. Maybe it's just me. I also added Weltmeister sway bars f/r. Again-not a big difference. I think Porsche did a pretty good job designing these cars so maybe it's tough to get a real seat of the pants difference. Maybe on the track one would notice better times?

The biggest improvement I noticed on my car was going from 15x6 to 16x7 wheel/tires. HUGE. The car was transformed. I should mention that the car was lowered and corner balanced at the same time.

alignment/corner balance..............1.5:2 x the price of strut brace
sport seats...................................6 x the price of strut brace
17" rims and tires.........................10 x the price of strut brace

Put in the brace and if the performance does not justify the cost auction off or sell it here for small loss if any. Hey part of the fun is experimenting and just working on your car.

I have some pretty twisty twisties where I live, so I did notice a difference when I installed a strut bar. But with that said, a larger difference was felt with bigger wheels/tires, lowering, corner balance and turbo tie rods (which were a necessity because my car was lowered, IIRC).

Thanks for all the opinions. I have already gone to 16x7 and 8 Fuchs, turbo tie rods and lowered. Not real sure where I'd go for corner balancing....but Mobil Werks East (Jimmy Deering) will surely know ;-)

I can't disagree with much of this. However, if you are wise, you can get in on the wheel/tire thing for a LOT less. I would'nt go with 17 inch wheels on your 78. Just doesn't fit in any sense of the word imo. The 16s are easy, make a big difference and look fantastic. I traded my 15x6 wheels to Jason Cullen for 16x7 Al Reed finished wheels, bought some Yokohama tires all for waaaaay less than 10x a strut brace. Somewhere closer to 2 or 3 times. Best money I spent on the car.
