Attn. DFW Pelicans, need help please
This is Jeff with the White 87 Targa. I was at the meet on 4/1.
Anyway, I tore into the front end today to install the Turbo Tie-Rods and bump steer kit and just as I suspected there is more wrong with it than just that. Both ball joints are shot, the rubber boots are dry rotted and there is no grease in them. The front shocks are also trashed. The left one is completely blown. What I need is to borrow the ball joint nut socket. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1144170379.jpg it looks like this. I will gladly pay to rent it from someone and I also have access to tickets on Southwest Airlines. If anyone has this tool and is willing to loan it to me please call my cell at 817-781-0959 or email jeff.frazier@sbcglobal.net. Thanks |
Bump for Jeff.

I can give the easy solution for removal.
Take a square or flat ended cold chisel with a BF hammer, slot the chisel in the notch and smack it around until it spins loose. This actually works for installing too but it will marr one of the notches and you have to guess at the torque. |

Getting them off wasn't a problem, a little heat and a BFH and chisel. I need the tool for installation and I just cant see spending 50+ bucks on a one time use item. |
Wow!!!!! Ask and ye shall receive!
Peppy57 out in Long Beach, is sending his ball joint socket half way across the country for my use. I continue to be amazed at the true camraderie of the Pelican/Porsche enthusiasts. Thanks everyone. |
