Porsche Crest Sway Bar Opinions/Feedback

Bout to throw down on a set of sway bars. My options are Weltmeister and Tarret. Any feedback regards the product or other products would be greatly appreciated. I run AutoX and DE events. Thanks!

The Tarrets are easier to work with when it comes to aligning the car, and removing drop-link pre-load when corner balancing. They are also much lighter.

For not much more than the Tarrets, you can get the Smart Racing bars, which are the best.

I have used the larger carrera bars, the Tarret ones and the SRP ones. Yes, the SRP ones have more options and *maybe* are a litte better designed, but the weigh heck of a lot more too. That said, I am happy with them on my car.

Cheers

I would suspect that given the same bar OD, they would provide the same anti-roll characteristic.

Other factors might include:
- Price
- Ease of adjusting settings
- Weight
- Quality of parts and hardware
- Optimum geometry
(not in any specific order)

What does "performance" entail?

If it were not for the puny, 5/16" socket head screw drop link attachment to the spring plate (rear, of course), I'd say why not? Tarrett uses a 3/8" bolt. It's a sway bar folks. While nice to have, a SB doesn't have to look pretty, just very functional.

I just took off the Weltmeisters that came with my car and replaced them with a set of Smart Racing bars. The difference in quality was pretty astonishing; CNC machined aluminum vs. bent sheetmetal. I have not seen the Tarrets. I ended up with 31mm in the front and 27mm in the back, considerably stiffer than my 22mm Weltmeisters, and lighter.

I was all set with SRP ones then I found a set of TRG ones.
SRP is nice in that (as I understand it) it uses all metric hardware.
The geometry, without having them side by side, seems to be as good/better than the TRG ones which had been one of the better ones out there for a long while.
I think the SRP ones are about $1300 for the set (front & rear) and you can get it from them.

You can buy the Smart Racing products directly from them or from a local dealer. They always have ads in all the Porsche magazines. I think I paid $625 for the front and $575 for the rear. Not cheap, but I suspect they have a pretty good resale value.

Right now I am running 23/29mm torsion bars in the car, and at some point will probably move up to 31 mm in the back with revalved Bilsteins (currntly running stock Sports). I still drive the car a little on the street and I am not sure I am quite ready to make it that stiff.
