Anyone have any input on this doee anyone know the reason the 915 clutch/flywheel wont work?

Has anyone ever swapped out the torsion tube on a 911 for the later one? Im thinking this may be the better way to go as at least any extra weight from the heavier box will be in front of the wheels rather than moving the engine back.

Steve

When a G50 is shortened, you have to use an early 930 clutch package and flywheel, with a G50 Throwout bearing. Ideally this will work, but not on a 3.2, due to the reference pickups on the flywheel. The reason you cant use a 915 setup, is that everything is to small and will not fit on a G50.

I am currently doing the same thing as you, but have given up on the shortening idea. I am most likely going to coilovers. But If I find out that swaping the torsion tubes is easier, than I might do that. Over all, this is a very complicated project and Im thinking about it all day everyday until Im done, then Ill be happy.

Y wont the 3.2 G50 flywheel work? I have both 915 and G50 3.2 flywheels and they both seem the same thickness is it the G50 clutch that mounts to the flywheel thats too thick for the shortened bell housing?

Yes, the pressure plate is too big. It wont fit.
