Supensions and Brakes...Set me up!!!!
So i am finished with all the body work and it's being sprayed this next week. It's a 69t to RS conversion by the way.......Well it's mostly going to be driven as a street car but I like to have a tight suspension because I am moving out to the twisty country very soon.
So set me up with what you would put on a car like this. It's basically all going to be redone, as I think the suspension is stock and the brakes are locked up.

basic performance minded upgrades include: bilstein struts/shocks 23&30 TBs, Tarrett 22 SB, Elephant strut brace, turbo tie rods.
Your brakes are totally dependant on your budget. Too many options. Set your self a cap, and we can help you find the best solution. (and then we will promptly help you go over your limit! )

Mike,
Suspension is soooo subjective so be prepared for the gamut of opinions. My SC at about 2530lbs felt great on the street with 22/28 T-bars and Bilstein Sports all around. It was plenty firm, very controlled, yet not jarring. Presuming your RS Clone will be even lighter, I'd consider either 21/28 or 22/29, depending on how firm you like it. Lots would say 27 or 28 on the rear bar in my stated combination ...I like having just a bit more rotation when I call for it, but keep in mind that I've got 225/245 rubber; if you've got less on the rear, you may want the more conservative rear bar. For reference, I've also got the Carrera sway bars (22mm/21mm) and like them a bunch! They are excellent street sways. You can pay more for adjustables, to be sure, but the price difference is very serious so that's up to you. The 22/21s offer great roll-stiffness at the track (and street), and are the best bang-for-buck, IMHO. Ooops, though with your 69, I don't think these will work ...check on that. Personally, I wouldn't go any stiffer for a "mostly street driven car" as my SC (a dedicated track car that is streeted on occasion) now has 31s in the rear. While tolerable, I wouldn't want to street with that on a regular basis (killer on the track, though!!! ).I'd definitely do the suspension bushings ...to PolyGraphite or ER's PolyBronze? ...well, I'll let you sort that one out ![]() Don't forget to get a quality alignment. A good balance for crisp handling w/o ripping through tires is in the -1.5 degrees neighborhood. And of course, a corner balance. Can't make any suggestions on brakes as I don't know enough about options for a long-hood to speak to that. Hope this gives you something to think about. Edward

As far as brakes, I've found Bill V's R/D to be excellent...just a matter of how fast you wanna spend (stop)..

ANd get the WEVO SPS setup for the back, sounds expensive until you add the parts that you are getting nd compare what it would cost otherwise, EXCEPT, the WEVo stuff is as well made as anything that you've fantasized about. (for a car!) Also, go with Smart Racings swau bars ....they make the weltmeister stuff look silly.

thanks for all the imput. As far as brakes go, I was thinking about just getting new rotors and rebuilding the calipers. Is it worth the extra money to upgrade the calipers? I will just be driving the car around the country roads, the car might never even see a track.

good idea- i wouldn't upgrade- new rotors, fresh pads, rebuild calipers, flush fluid, -- you should be good- especially if just doing spirited driving on the backroads- post pics when done! good luck
