Are you a Pelican? A what?

At a recent car show I was asked if I was a Pelican. Sounded kinda like a personal question until he explained that if you own a 911, which I do, you really need to be a Pelican. So I got the details and checked out the site and WOW! I think I hit the jackpot. This place is fantastic. For 25 years I had been into Corvettes but 5 years ago I woke up one morning and the passion was gone. I sold my two '70s muscle vettes put my books and manuals on ebay and even sold my special corvette door panel removal tool. My wife wasn't sure what to make of it. Not long after that I was passed by a 911 and I had a childhood flashback. 1968 Newport Beach, Balboa Island, 911 parked along the street.
The fire was lit again. Bought an '86 911 coupe and sold it a year later. Next a '75 914 and sold it a year later, and now I'm the owner of an '85 Turbolook coupe. Great to look at but even greater to drive. Though no longer in SoCal but Greenville, SC, the southeast seems to be a great place to own a 911. Though I don't see as many on the roads the ones I do see are very passionate about their ride. So am I Pelican? What do you think?

Welcome aboard! Nice ride.

You've gotten off on the right foot by posting a picture of your car.

Welcome aboard! You now are "officially" a Pelican! This place is one of the coolest things about the internet! I do things now on my car I never imagined knowing I have this board to fall back on. And nice car!

A wise choice, Jim - now you'll be able to see the road in front of your nose and the rest of the Corvette guys in your rear-view. Welcome to the club, I think you'll like it here.

Welcome Jim,
You would be surprised at just how many former Corvette drivers are on here. I was raised on muscle cars and Corvettes but all it took was one drive in a 911 and it was all over for me. I even managed to convince my parents to sell the Vette so my boat could live in the garage--one must keep their priorities in line. Anyway welcome again and I think it will be time for a Upstate SC Pelican run in the near future (mid June). I cannot believe how many people are from the Upstate of SC on here now, three years ago there was one (me) now we have 5 or 6.
