Talking Need advice on used 2001 - 2004 Turbo

Hello,

I'm brand new to this forum and this is my 1st thread. I am looking at buying a used 2001 - 2004 turbo at the end of this month. Before I buy one I want to get your advice, tips, things to look for, things to avoid, etc. Any information you want to share will be much appreciated.

My previous car:
2005 Chrysler 300C with HEMI, GSM supercharger and big boost kit along with many other performance mods. The car was putting down 415 rwhp and 435 rwtq. I loved that car but have always wanted a 911 turbo and decided to sell it and get my dream car. I owned a 1977 porsche 911 with 1989 engine, 1988 turbo body kit and many extras. The car looked like a turbo but it was not. I had to sell it due to rust problems. Now I am ready for a 996 Turbo !!!

Any information you have to share will be very helpful. I look forward to getting to know all of you and eventually contributing to the forum in a knowledgable manner.

Thanks.

Bring on the information

Have you check Rennlist web site they have many 996t owners.
I would say since the 997t is out and alot of people are looking to sell there 996 look for the newest year. The only problems that I know of is the tranny's fail and porsche will not warranty many of them. My friend had his fail and no warranty. I don't own a 996t so this is off what has happen to my friend.

Rennlist is the forum I originally signed up for. I saw this forum had more traffic on the big-boards chart so I decided to sign up here to.

Not to mislead you, but the amout of traffic for cars after the 993 (1998) really drops off here. The 996 turbo is a terrific car, but not a DIY'er like the early 911's. Your best bet is a inspection by a dealer. If it were me, I'd shoot for a car still under some warranty so any surprises can be handled by them. These cars come with a hefty Porsche tax.
