Vertex Forum

Anybody else get a notification that this exists? Looks like they are trying to generate some business using the Dempsey model.

My take is that they are trying to lure people in by copying the Pelican forum. I have done almost no business with them & only use them when absolutely necessary.
Additionally, it will take a huge amount of time to come close to matching the level of knowledge here.I seriously doubt that they even considered that part of the equation. How many of us will be there?
What's next, a Motor Meister forum????

FWIW, Vertex has been around for quite a while. In the past I have never had a problem with them.

Pelican and more specifically Wayne Dempsey have created a magnificent forum for us Porsche folks.
I'm not surprised someone might try to copy Wayne's idea.
My support and money go to Pelican.
Don't tell Wayne, I'd pay to play here. He has my parts business because of this BBS.
I might look at others, but ths is home.

I have only ordered a few items from them. Had a serious problem with a rebuilt alternator - initially sent the wrong alternator. When the correct one arrived, it had cross threaded bolts which I discovered once I had it in the car trying to get the duct on. I had to cannibilize my old alternator to get the car back together.
That was it. I don't remember why I didn't buy it here; $ or out of stock.
Pelican now gets all my business.

I got the e-mail as well, I suspect all customers recieved it..

-I'm not planning on using it but I don't really think we need to bash them, they've got every right to get in the game, -It's just that they are about 8 years late....

I bought some stuff from them years ago; my spam filter probably canned the email.

The 3% surcharge is why I never went back.

They seem to do a good job, and I would not hesitate to buy something from them that Pelican does not carry, such as a rebuilt trans. I know of someone who has been very happy with their $1,500 rebuilt 915. I almost ordered one last year but had my trans rebuilt locally instead (for $1,900). Don't really need another forum though - in fact when I check Rennlist, other than Peter Zimmerman, I mostly see the same posts as I see here.

I got the e-mail too since I'm a Vertex customer as well as Pelican, and many others. Sometimes when Pelican don't have a Part
Vertex will have it or Performance Product will..! Is nice to see they hace a site too. Is nice to have an alternative when you are running out of time with a car
Or Wayne have a Patent for this type of forum

I'm known as Jack Olsen on that board. I could pass as him. Just have to lose 50 lbs, dye my skin white and get a GQ makeover.
