dash replacement
What is the best way to obtain a dash for my 1969 911T? I don't mind refurbished, but want to stay away from the dashcap solution.
Also, how hard is it for a novice to replace the new dash, and what steps are involved? Thanks!! |

You can still get replacement dashes for the early cars(69-73). Last i looked they were around $1100. Call pelican. They can probably get them as they are in Performance Products catalog and pelican can get anything in their catalog. Do not knoe if the dashes are listed in the Pelican Website or not. I replaced mine. No regrets.

I only had a warped center vent when I decided to replace. It's what you look at constantly. Kind of like a clean bathroom but the bowl looks like somebody jack knifed an eighteen wheeler in.

You can send your dash off to "Just Dashes." They will rebuild it for around $450 & it will be better than new. It will also have a warrantee for as long as you own the car. I sent my dash to them & asked to have the speaker hole deleted. The only problem was that it took them about 6 months to get it done. They kept telling me they were waiting for a few to come in so they could make a run of them.
You have to take the windshield out. There are 2 nuts over the instruments (sticking down) & 4 on the right panel (sticking forward into the front trunk area). You have to remove a bunch of stuff to get in there to them. Once you get the old one out, it's pretty easy to put the new one back in. Of course, "while you're in there," should replace the windshield seal, treat any rust, clean up the instruments, etc., etc. Good luck.

Yes. I just installed the dashboard in my '69T. I've been 'doing' my 911 since '92. Still on sawhorses. But someday!
Autos International refurbished mine for about $550. In two weeks! I just couldn't bare looking out at a shiny new car and seeing a crappy looking dashboard. "Cheers" Roadslayer |

yes, i think the replacement cost is just so damned outrageous. i like the idea of a refurb. if they can exactly duplicate with same materials, i'd be tempted in this 400-500 dollar range.

I just called Just Dashes. Current pricing for a 911 dash is $650, plus more for the speaker grill. 8-10 weeks turnaround. "Very close" is how he termed the match to original.
You need a decent dash to send in. Then there's shipping both ways. pelican lists an early dash with speaker hole for $1150, plus shipping one way. Depending on where you live, that's about a $425 difference, unless your dash is so shot you need one to send in, which adds, $250...plus shipping on it. So, for me, it's only about $170 more to get a new one. Gulp

I used Just Dashes aways back. It took almost three months and costs $650 for the dash and $100 for the speaker grill. That's $750 and it doesn't match the vinyl grain of the rest of the interior. It looks like what you would find in a 60's Mustang. Also the speaker grill is different. The holes are smaller and more of them. Once again like a Mustang. Needless to say their bread and butter is American cars.
I decided the Just "American" Dashes ![]() Good Luck You'll need it. P.S. Here's a couple threads. http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8067&highlight=stoddards+dash http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9125&highlight=stoddards+dash
