IMO, Slate Grey is one of the BEST colors. It gives the car a serious, yet elegant look. Beautiful!

Porsche did both the flat and the metallic in slate grey. Which is better?

Depends. I like the solid version and SG is my favorite color. But, the Boxster has a great version of a grey metallic. (I don't have one like that, wish I did). The Box, 996 or 997 might not look right in a solid grey. There's little tirm to break it up.

The non-metallic slate grey is amazing looking and rare. I think this color would look great on a 997 or a Cayman S too.

Here's my '89. I've changed the plates since these photos. I'm not a real personalized plate kind of guy. I'd love to see some with tasteful mods...

are there any stone grey 911's?

Stone grey (not the metallic) was that really great putty color from 1957 356's...it was reintroduced as a metallic and the color was changed completely for C2's I think.

I like this color! Reminds me of Nimbus Gray used on the Audi TT.

Saintz,

My ex-912 was factory Slate Grey until a PO painted it jam to jam Dark Blue. There were still a few unpainted areas large enough to visualize how the car should have looked.

Intereting to see that Wayne is looking for a Slate Grey Speedster.

Let's hope we can get a pic from an early example to really benchmark this color.
