I've found some rust on the rear torsion bar tube of my 74 coupe. It's behind the fuel pump and appears localized, but you never know what lurks beneath. I need a recommendation for a good shop in the bay area who is experienced in repairing this kind of damage and, if necessary, can weld in a whole new torsion tube to factory spec (i.e. on a frame jig that will preserve the alignment settings).
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. -Jon |

Since you're in Orinda I'd say just take it up to Valhalla in Lafayette and consult with them. I'm not sure if they can do it themselves but if they can't I'm sure they would give you a good referral...

Bump. Anyone with any first-hand experience with a shop that does P-car fab work in the Bay Area?

Tom Martenot in Concord - Deutch Motorsports. Tom has been doing this for years and I have seen all sorts of welding and ressurection projects in his shop. He can do it or he will know how / where to get it done. Good guy he has been time trialing for years and takes care of both of my cars.
Good luck with the car. Matt

Whittman's Auto Body in San Rafeal...they do a lot of Porsche's//they actually fix Bucklers (The Racers Group/TRG)race cars when they get wrecked. Ask for Craig Whittman...they have done work on both my race cars and street cars. Qualityjob.
