The Ultimate Porsche Neighborhood!
I just moved into a new house in Los Angeles- off the 405 between Culver City and Marina Del Rey- it's Westchester/aka LA- coolest thing is I have apparently moved into the ultimate Porsche neighborhood- Within 15 houses or so the neighborhood has:
1) my 88 Carrera coupe 2) 996 Turbo in Polar Silver with GIAC tuning and Kinesis 19's(belongs to son of Pelican salesman Tom and may, according to Sean, soon be replaced by 997 GT3, maybe, I hope) 3) (Periodically) Tom's black SC 4) A black on tan 997 Carrera cab 5) A white 968 cab 6) black Boxster S 7) gold SC 8) tangerine zip down 911T targa ( im trying to buy it for restoration! he doesn't wanna sell- it needs a lot of work-) 9) the piez de resistance . . . A silver CARRERA GT! It's crazy- Im not rich at all but they're all within a dozen or so houses so I feel rich! At least I getta look at them everyday- it's like a P car lot of the ages- Ill try and snap some pics of the GT and Seans awesome looking 996 to post here. Who else is lucky enough to have a P-car neighborhood?

Guy down the street has a turbo 996 & a block or two over is a red 993 of some sort -- so on a popn adjusted basis {140k in whole town}, gotcha beat. There are also 4-5 Priuses (Priii), and the next street down the hill seems to be 60% white Volvos... so that brings down the performance average a bit.

Hang around outside at one of the coffee shops at the mall in the Marina for entertainment.
Main St in Santa Monica draws many exotics. The best seat is inside Ambiance Hair Studio facing the street for viewing cars and girls. If the owner gives you your trim you'll be very entertained. He's an encyclopedia on local exotic cars and female action places.

yeah, jose, the women are beautiful here too. im 29, single, and do ok with the ladies but everytime im with a hottie all i can do is think about my car- crazy-
LA is a great place for almost any industry- all the experts and pros are here- similar to NY but LA is the Porsche cap. of the US for sure- on a 25 minute drive home i see anywhere from 5-25 P-cars! GT's GT3's, Carreras, SC, Boxsters, Caymans, 996,993,964, 928, 924 etc etc- all day long, everday- i think it would kinda be nice to see less but since im rollin a new classic i feel a bit more exclusive- soooo many 996's and Boxsters it'll make an air cooled guy wannt puke- anyone visiting should post here so we can hang- set up a drive etc.

Around here I feel pretty exclusive in my little Carrera. I typically spot a handful during the summer season. And yup, I get all the girls..

I was there for the Ventura show in 2003 and I get "torticolis" (neck problem) because I kept looking at Porsches all day long for the weekend but it was one of the best Porsche experience ever , although I noticed a lot of P. Cars in Phoenix also (for the Flight 28 show last year) and also a lot in Washington DC , anyway California for me is : Porsche Paradise ..........

Neighbor to my left has a Boxster S. To my right, a 996 Cab.
I win (at least among my neighbors).

Drove down Sunset Blvd. for about two miles today. I saw 1 new Bentley, 1 about 5 year old Rolls, Three 997s, One 993, my 911, Aston Martin DB7 and a DB9, Ferrari Maranello (I think), New Maserati, Several Boxsters, a 1957 Corvette Roadster, Dozens of New BMWs and Mercedes of every ilk.
25 houses on my street and two 1984 911s, one coupe, one Targa (mine). One NSX and one Aston Martin (mine).

I think there's one or two within 20 miles of me, but I drive up the average.

Lots of Porsches in So. Cal. Most with 4th and 5th gear hardly used.
Too many people, way too many people. Nice weather, can't see the mountains most days. Not a lot of Porsches in N.M. Lots of open roads, not much law enforcement. Now this is paradise. Mountains look different over 100 mph.

Hmm...
At risk of one uping you guys, besides my 87 Carrera, the 996 C4S, 993, 996 Turbo, and the garage with 2 yellow Murcielagos in it, one of my neighbors has a Porsche 910 in his garage with a 2.2 flat 8--very nice. Mike |

I KNOW I have the only one in my little town. If I took a guess, I would say there are probably less than 20 in Genesee County. That makes us special, doesn't it?

I spent the past weekend in LA visiting my parents. On Saturday, I noticed that their neighborhood sports at least: Testarossa, Ford GT, 996 Turbo cab. A couple neighbors have had Vipers. P-cars, MB's, and BMW's (almost all new) are as common as flies.
Went for a drive up in the Malibu canyons on Sunday. Didn't really see anyone (wow!), but on the way home, ran into a 355 Spider, and 2 F360's. While having lunch on Sunset Blvd @ Carney's--world's best burger joint), cars that rumbled by included: Ford GT, F360, 3 or 4 Bentley's, etc. Again, P-cars too common to warrant a count (though few of them air-cooled). Interestingly, no one's ever got plates on their swanky cars...

I live in Santa Monica and Porsches are a dime-a-dozen here. But I still enjoy mine everyday.

New Porsches are a dime a dozen. Down here, anything older than a 993 gets more rare by the day.
