porsche 911 turbo LE 930 autoheat uk

I have the LE model 1989 ,330 standard bhp(right hand drive UK car)the autoheat will not switch on side blowers ,failed last week, the fix of bypassing the reed switch to get things going doesnt work for me but was a brilliant piece of detective work by the guys.
My controller in the engine compartment is different to that described ,much simpler with just a small relay coil and a variable pot ,and a few other bits and pieces.
Does anyone know of these differences ,and any fix ,mine is june 1989 car and must be one of the last 930`s.So maybe they improved things as a last gasp.
