I grew up...now what?

Been a while since I have had time to visit this site...actually 2 more beautiful daughters later (and a freakin minivan)!

My dilema is this:

I have an 82 SC with a 993TT body (fiberglass) that is sitting in my garage and has been for a couple of years because I simply do not have the time to put it back together. Here is a link showing the car a couple of years ago.

911 SC

The only difference between now and the pictures is the engine and trans were removed to do a 3.2 short stroke upgrade and fix some leaks. I have tons and tons of parts but no time! I also have a 90 c2 cab that I bought for the wife to drive so at one point I thought I would just turn the SC into a track car...again 3 daughters, one wife, no time and 2 back seats .

Anyhow, I thought I could pay someone to put it back together then broom it and sell all of the 3.2 SS parts along with my other unneeded parts here or on ebay. But the other option is to part it all out.

Either way, it needs to go to make room for an unmolested 69 camaro RS conv.. Room for 3 in the back and still a pretty cool ride. Plus, with a few mods to the engine, tranny, suspension, tires and brakes... it could be a formidable track car...

(check ebay in a couple of years for a low-mile 2 owner, slightly molested 69 camaro basket case with lots of spare parts!)

Anyway, here are some of the parts I have:

3.0 running fine when removed approx 80k miles, no broken head studs
915 tranny limited slip
3.2 SS jugs, heads (fresh valve job), pistons (no rings)
SSI headers still in the box
big bore throttle body new
New Nology Hot wires
993 Windshield new
turbo tie rods new in package
good used engine oil cooler
new oil lines
964 cams
new push rod tubes
new gasket set
good used euro CIS set up
89 interior-leather
etc, etc, etc

What would you guys do? I dont even know what some of these parts are worth anymore.

Thanks
Ian

What would I do? Sell the daughters and the minivan to the highest bidder, ixnay on the Camaro, eh? Hypnotize the wife, move a cot out to the garage, buy a keg of beer and get cracking!

But that's just me...

Nice touch on the 993 style wipers that many other conversions seem to miss. Did you get that panel from a donor 993 or did you modify the original one?

Build a barn and store the p-cars, encapsulate them in plastic. Kids grow up fast, before too long you'll have time to build.

Also I agree on the Camaro WTF

I dunno, between an unmolested 69 camaro and a replica 993 in pieces, I'd be real hard pressed to part wtih the camaro.

that camaro IS worth more, LOL
I had a 67 SS/RS convertible, and sold it to buy my rust bucket 911, LOL

Yeah, yeah my 911 drives better...way better, but the Camaro is a different sort of drive. And jeez...a SS/RS is worth a few bucks these days...WAY more them my "collector" 911, LOL.

He's making the right move for him at this point in time.

Ebay will find the buyers, no reserve the parts and you'll get fair market. Post ads on the various Porsche sites with ebay links.

I hate to agree with the notion to sell the 911 and keep the convertible Camero but one has to agree that when you have a family you have to be rational at times. Besides you still have a P-car in the family and crusing arosund in the Camero with the top down and family in tow would be a blast for for everybody. As far as the camero convertible being a formidable track car you must be smoking your lunch. That is one flexy car not to mention mechanicaly inadequite, however for a street car that will put a mile wide smile on your face it's a solid choice, even economically.

tonypeoni, SlantnoseSD,
Thanks

i_got_an_SC,
that was done before I got the car. about the only thing the guy did right. it appears to be from a 993 donor as it is not cobbled

DaveE,
Yeah but I can drive the C2 during the day for work...just me. Camaro at night and on weekends with the family.

rsNINESOOPER,
Formidable is a relative term. compared to a Pcar...well that is just too rediculous to even contemplate. But with a fair amount of tweaking (sub frame connectors, suspension mods, braking, etc.)they can be respectable on the track. You are right, however, nothing can quite match the sound of duals on an american 8 lauching from the stop light on a saturday night.

Can you keep the 911 for fun and take your family, when you need to, in the van?
Why replacing the P car with the SS, IF you still like the P car more?

But the Camaro is worth so much now to fat, old, bald guys who "grew up" 30 years ago and now desperately want to buy some of their long lost youth. They'll all be dead soon from massive coronaries, exploding colons and/or gout, so sell that American POS to one of them before their widows and heirs flood the market.
