Correct toe in for '88 Carrera?

Anyone know what the factory specification for the front toe in is for an '88 Carrera?

Thanks,
Bob

Yep...in real terms, however, you'd ask for a "smidge" of toe-in....our suspension pivot points are encased in large sized rubber bushes, don't forget...so don't fret. I'm not sure how'd you get that last 0.5 minutes.....there are 60 minutes in 1 DEGREE...so eyeball this and say...ABOUT 6-8 minutes per side.

Wil,

Would an average driver doing mostly street driving notice any difference at all with a +/- 0 toe (as compared to 6-8 min toe in) ?

I've driven non-porsche cars with zero toe-in, and the tires would grab every little groove and imperfection in the pavement. My Carrera is adjusted to factory spec, and the steering is "responsive", rather than "twitchy". If you drove the same car with the two different alignments, I think you would be able to tell.

I agree...the whole point of "slight amount of toe"...is simply to "preload" all the slop out of all the places with backlash....so there is a constant preload while travelling straight down the road.

Anytime you use "0" toe...the "slop" can go either left or right per tire, as the tire follows every groove and irregularity of the road. There would be a slight amount of backlash in either direction of "Straight ahead".

15 min total toe is simply techno-speak to getting a "smidge" of preload applied..that makes tracking more straight and true.
