Missing CHT Sensor?
A while back I had noticed an unused harness connection in my engine area. I guess I assumed it was an unneeded or diagnostic-only connection because my engine is running fine. But I was reading thru my Bentley manual and I see it being described as the connection for my CHT sensor. I don’t have the car with me at work today, but I also don’t recall seeing anything laying around in the engine area that would’ve been the lead from the CHT sensor.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1144953431.jpg So, from Bentley, it sounds like I’m running rich from this missing sensor, but from reading the Pelican archives, a shorted/defective CHT sensor would be causing surging/bucking and all sorts of other drivability issues. How is it that I’m not really having any problems, but this is missing? Any ideas? |
I surprised that it runs at all with that disconnected.

It not only runs well, but it runs great, at idle all the way to redline.
I've done DE's, driven thousands of miles... something must be faking it out. |
I checked and it looks like the PO's mechanic must've replaced the harness connector, but was too lazy to remove the old one. So, now my CHT sensor harness are just connected but not to the old connector and the new connector is not in the bracket (the old one still is).
I will try to remember to post a pic for the archives. |
