Porsche Targa: 96 - 98: General Info Needed
Porsche Targa: 96 - 98: General Info Needed
Good friend of mine has got the bug. Was wondering about the targa version. Specific questions include: 1) Rigidity of targa vs. Coupe 2) How hot does it get under the glass, can you feel the sun coming through when driving with top closed? 3) Any issues with the Top, how well does it work And yes, I posted this on the 993/996 site but haven't seen any response. I'm not a member of PCA, just our regional PCA club so I can't do a search on the PCA site. Anyone have any thoughts?

I have heard there were issues with the 993 targa - problems with flex. From what I understand - those issues were resolved with the 996 version.
The car is one of my favorites and right at the top of my wife's favorite - From all I have read - if we get a 993 it would be a coupe - if we target a targa it would have to be the 996 H20 version.

They do flex and squeak significantly more than a coupe. No issues with heat or operation though. It's a pretty cool "big sunroof."
I don't know why porsche made a 996 version because the 993 never sold that well. -dc |
