So my car was sideswiped while parked on the street.
see pics here: http://www.dbox.us/gallery/?folder=porsche the good news is insurance is going to pay for a full set of new wheels. the bad news is I can't seem to find anything remotely close. the body shop found these: http://www.diesel-king.de/W108/Reifenkunde/BBS_7x15.JPG Which I would jump on, but there are only 2 and are not quite an exact match. I'd like to get something as close as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be great! Thanks, dbox ![]() |

They look like bbs wheels. There are plenty of those around.

yeah, i've seen the bbs wheels here:
http://www.wheelenhancement.com/index.php?t=Wheels but non are really that similar. insurance will pay for new 16's.. If I get 17's i'll have to rebuy all new tires again (just bought great new ones before the accident) basically I just want a very classic looking wheel. If I can get the original honeycomb style, that'd be great. Don't really know where else to look...the body shop is stumped as well |

Classic would be going to the wheels that it came with.
Fuchs. Maybe get some polished.

Yes. You can get them polished as well if you like the shiny look.

Jester-
Thanks for all the help ... here is a photoshop rendering with the original compared with a mocked up fuchs http://www.dbox.us/gallery/?folder=porsche&pic=6.jpg few more quetions: 1. is that what the car would have looked like originally you think? 2. better than what i had? 3. pronounced "fukes?" i assume? |

1.Original on your car would be the black anodized pic you had on wheel enhancement.
2.They are lighter and stronger than most any aftermarket wheel because they are forged instead of cast. 3. Fukes is correct ![]() Also the wheels that more than likely came on your car were 6" in front and 7" in rear. The wheels that are on your car now could possibly be 7's and 8's

Thanks jester-
They're actuallly still 6's and 7's. unfortunately wheelenhancement.com says it'll take 4 weeks to order the dual anodized pictured here: http://www.wheelenhancement.com/Images/4289339cd4684_fuchsdualan167_obw.jpg know of any other places i could order it? By the way, I owe you a coke. |

Well if you want new I am not sure. Used there not too hard to find. The classified section on this board is very active and you can post items that you are looking for. You would be amazed at the response you can get.
I know that doesn't help too much for insurance reasons. There is another option. Lindsey wheels. They do custom wheels made from fuchs. You will have to search for a contact for them. You can search on this board.

I believe the ones you had are Rial, a BBS clone. Is your car a euro? I have seen those on other euros, but I don't think they are produced anymore and it will be very hard to find a used set.

I know I am in the minority, but I think that style BBS wheel doesn't add anything to the looks of a Porsche. The Fuchs would look great on your SC. The black centers with the ano lip would look awesome.....Good luck on whatever wheel you decide to go with. Sorry to hear about the sideswipe. Did they catch the offender?

No note was left on the car. I'm assuming the offender's car was messed up pretty bad considering how hard my wheel was hit, but it was probably a bigger vehicle as the black marks on the side of the Porsche are not paint, but tire marks.
I think I'm sold on the Fuch's but I really want the all silver version. |

Plus real 7 and 8" fuchs will add $500-800 to the value of your car, not that you want to sell it
![]() And you can probably unload the 3 good original ones in here for couple hundred...maybe cover a part of your deductible |

I have these but they're 15". 7's for the front, 8's for the rear. I just had the centers powdercoated black.
Gauging interest..wheels for sale

I vote for black/polished Lindsey 17" Fuchs. They are $$ but you can't beat the look!

Honestly, I think Fuchs will make your 911 look dramatically better than the BBS style wheels you have. Fuchs are not only the best looking wheel ever made for the 911, they are also pretty darn light and very strong. You can't do any better. Now, I would contact Pelicanite Jason Cullen about Fuchs wheels if I were you. He may still have brand new sets of 16X9 Fuchs and he seems to get a good supply of 16X7's too. I have no affiliation with Jason other than I bought a set of 16X9's from him for a price that was more than fair. They came in factory boxes. The wheels look spectacular. Jason also had new center caps for way less than anyone else sells them. Good luck! Sincerely, Mike |

Get away from the 15"; tires are harder to find. I found BBS too hard to keep clean. Man, this is your chance to get some Fuchs 16 x 7 and 8. They'll fill in the wheel wells nicely and are classy. I stayed with stock 205's in front, and 225's in the rear on purpose. Some people go with 245's on 9's in the rear but that gets pretty tight. Fuchs is pronounced: Fooks (Just like: Looks)

FWIW, I just put 16X9's Fuchs on the rear of my 1987 Carrera with 245X45 Yokohama ES100's. There is plenty of room to spare inboard and outboard--plenty. And, DAMN, those 9's look really mean! The fronts, however, are another issue. 7X16 Fuchs with 225X50 tires is really tight. If I am lucky, they will not rub after an alignment, C/B, and fender lip shaving. Mike |
