Sound Deadening Recommendations?

My car has had all the material removed from under the carpets before I bought it and nothing is in the doors either. The doors sound like a tin can when I close them and I'm sure the sound deadening would help greatly. I'd like to install a product with the best features and after a search on the internet I'm more confused than ever. I'm hoping to do the floor and doors for about $200 or so.

I was wondering if any of you have used any of the listed products or could recommend another. Some even offer a paint-on sound deadener.

Here are some I found:

B-Quiet
eDead
Dynamat
Fatmat eXtreme
QuietCar

Thanks, Dave

IIRC, there's not a whole lot of "stuff" under the carpet in a stock configuration anyway.

When I redid the inside of my car, I covered the whole inside (excluding the part right under your feet) with "b-quiet" and I am very satisfied. It is pretty much identical to Dynamat and much much much cheaper, and delivered right to your door. No PITA ordeal at the stereo shop.

I also covered most of inside of the doors, too. Your car may have some felt-ish cottony material glued to the main skin of the door. If not, you can just put a few modestly sized squares on the inside of the skin. No need really to cover the whole thing (the main skin).

Stuff like b-quiet and dynamat are meant to reduce vibration, not necessarily reduce overall noise. But everything helps.

I would recommend you don't spray any kind of sound deadener stuff, unless you're VERY sure you want to. It's kind of hard to undo.

Yeah, but it's heavy and well attached, both making it effective. It has been proven and discussed here that any sound matting needs to be complete with no gaps at the seams. I don't remember if there is a tape that goes with each product to achieve this.

On the doors: The saturated felt stuff on the skin helps to deaden the drum head effect of the skin, bit if the doors are sounding "tinny," perhaps the door panels are to blame. IF the PO removed the floor material, what did he do to the doors? Light weight RS panels can't stop the noise of a tinny door like the bulk of all the pockets, arm rests, etc.

Of course, the main area of concern is the rear shelf, bulkhead and the seat bowls. A substantial layer of heat reflecting and sound deadening material will help big time here. It doesn't have to be heavy to work, but that helps on the sound side more than on the heat side of the problem.

All my .02, as usual.

Thanks guys,

I'll probably go for the Dynamat although I'm open to using something less expensive if I could get the same effect.

"Sound Deadening Recommendations?"
Tell the wife to stay home if she didn't like the way you took that last corner. Makes the car much more peaceful and you can hear the motor much clearer.

well, I like to hear the exhaust sound too but not the sound through the body and entering the cabin. It's diff, just don't know how to discribe the diff. It's more of the vibration, resonated sound. Well, I hope someone know what I am talking about to translate it
