Rear deck R&R
I have an '84 and a fresh replacement rear deck for the inside. Before I go tearing off like a bull in a china shop and cause more damage than I'm trying to repair is there a trick to this? or do you just remove the screws on the front, then the speakers and pull it off.

you shouldn't have to remove the speakers as they are only attatched to the deck.
if the current one hasent been out in a while the vinyl may be stuck the the rear window seal, if so use patience and a taped over putty knife to separate the vinyl from the seal (a slight twisting of the knife will work), if it's really stuck try a little heat to soften it up. |
If it's like the SC ( and I think it is) you remove the screws and lift (slide) up on the center section (between the seats). There's a "tang and loop" connector there (behind that section) that must be disengaged. BTW, replacement is a bit more difficult because you must blindly reengage that tang when reinstalling.
