70 - 73 targa tops

Let me say that this is, for now, just research.
As summer progresses.... who knows.

I have two targa tops, a 70 and a 73, which should be the same fitment. One consists of several pieces of metal that are loosely tied together by some rotten vinyl. The other is only slightly better, but also features some welding to one of the frame pieces.

Since I have no experience with Targa tops, I would be interested to know why the front and rear bars are hinged. Did these tops somehow fold away for storage?

Is there a solid hard top available to replace these things?

If not, how much it costs to have one of these tops overhauled....?

Thanks.
