Charity Car Show - Near Grand Rapids MI April 22nd

A friend of mine is helping put this together - sounds like a good time, as well as good timing to FINALLY get our cars out of hibernation. I'll be there with my '73, and a few other early guys may make it as well. All are invited, pass on to anyone interested!

This does sound like fun. But I won't be able to make it cause we have a Thomas the Train thing we are taking the kids to that day.

Wayne - Sent you a PM....

Since I only live 10 minutes from there I'll definitely try to attend weather permitting. I'm picking up my "new" SC next week Saturday so I'll be ready!
What time does the event start?

Sounds good. The wife is out of town that weekend so I think the girls and I will make a road trip to GR to attend.
Do you have any additional details? Start and end time, entrance fee, etc..?

This is also an autox. This is the email I got from the Grand Rapids scca mailing list...

On April 22nd, ABC Auto Auction has invited the Furrin Group to run
a charity event to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society. The FG has voted to pay all expenses and all proceeds
will go to the LaLS. Registration and setup for the event will be
at 8:00am Saturday morning. This will be a non-competitive
event. This will be the first of many Test/Tune/Practice events we will be having this year!
Runs will cost $5 for 2 runs and $1 for ride alongs. Tech and Registration will be all day. Which comes
to my next point; I need all the help I can get from the Autocross
community. ABC has been great for the past few years by giving us free access to use their lot. This is our chance to give back to
the community. I will be looking for Tech, registration, corner
workers, etc, etc. You will be given free runs for the amount of
time you work. I will also be looking for some nice cars
(Porsches, Vettes, Mazda RX8s, etc) to give rides to those
purchasing ride-alongs. This would be a great event for those of
you thinking about autocrossing, or just want to try it once. For
more information or you want to volunteer NOW, contact me at wdrsbtr@iserv.net. Runs will be all day starting at around
10:00am. There may be breaks in the day to let people walk the
course. Starting at 2:00pm, there is a band scheduled, an auction, and small car show at the ABC building. So come early and run often.

Sounds great, I'll try to make it out for sure. I'm picking up my new 911SC next Saturday so it will give me a chance to perhaps try a little autocross! I may be willing to help with some of the coursework as well. I'll send you an email.

Serves me right for procrastinating-tickets sold out for the 22nd. I must have clicked on the wrong thing at work.It said tickets still available. They were not that night when I got home. I sould have taken my credit card into work. There is going to be another Thomas event in Flint in August (I think). Probably will be better anyway. My parents will want to come along. They could not this time. My sister's birthday is that weekend and they were going to Chicago t see her anyway. BTW: are tickets really that expensive. It was $30 some for adults and $11.75 for kids. I though tickets were $15 for adults. All this Thomas clothing, movies, toys-expensive but man does my son love it. Let me know if you guys found tickets cheaper.

Michael, just so you know, that's not my email address. I think that's for a great guy named Curt who organizes the furrin group autocrosses. If you're not familiar with what we have around here for autocross, tsd rally, etc. these are the people you need to meet.

Mike - It was nice to finally meet you today. If it wasn't for getting all the toys out of the way for the Thomas the Train I don't think my son would ever pick up his toys....

Rob, sent you an email. I'd be happy to help with the a/x any way I can - and give rides in my '73 911s. I have some a/x experience.

To clarify the comment on tickets being sold out... that's for the Thomas thingy... right?

Yes, it's just for the Thomas the Train thing. Sorry, we should be doing PM's instead of hi-jacking this thread.

This looks like it will be a lot of fun. Barring any unforseen circumstances, I'm in.

I should be at the show this weekend. No porsche though. Bringing the family and meeting up with family from the area. If I see a porsche or two, I'll come over and say hi.
