knee bar removal
Does anybody know where there are instructions for removal of the knee bar in an 88 911? I have the porsche work shop manual but it leaves a lot to be desired with instructions for this procedure. Thanks

I don't know about instructions, but this I can tell you: a couple of the 10mm nuts are a ***** to get to. It is certainly a job where you work by feel. But I have done it several times, so it is doable.

Do you have to pry out the ac vents on driver and passenger side like the manual suggests. They don't seem to pry out, I'm afraid of braking them if I force them.

I replaced mine last year and dont remember prying any thing out . If I remember correctly there is a 10 mm near each end of both pieces and it is one of those painful jobs to complete. Do you know anyone with small hands?

I agree removing the knee bars is one of those 'what were the engineers thinking?' jobs. If you want to make it "easier", take your seats out, lay on your back with your head under the steering wheel and with a 1/4 drive ratchet, 3 inch extension, universal joint and 8mm socket, find the door side nut with your fingers and remove. The inner nut is much easier. You might need to take some wire cutters to break some wire ties to make room for your fingers to get at the door side nut.
