We would of made just over 500rwhp at that boost level, if the intercooler wasn't heat soaked.

This is True, we actually didnt have a fan that would work with the IC set up on the porsche, it would have most likley picked up 10-15whp if we had the proper fan going.

Trust me Souk, it no much a secret when your driving behind the car, the turbo whines so hard, it sounds like a semi truck turbo. And the fact that it throws massive consistant fire balls doesn't help either.

It's a 3.2 liter Carrera engine that has been converted to 3.3 and still running Motronic. Motronic is about stretched as far as it can be at this level. We'll be playing with engine management this year ;-)

But there is not reason why a 3.3 (CIS) engine can't be tweaked to a higher level of power...and even higher yet when it's converted to EFI.

Off topic, I am considering seling the 911 and getting an evo (need rear seats and AC). How reliable is an Evo for track days and autocross. Will I constantly break stuff, over heat etc.?

Thanks

Elombard, The EVO is a great platform. Most guys that autocross their cars and go to track days, use thier EVO'S as daily drivers. We have numorous 500awhp cars running around on stock bottom ends. Ask anyone who has driven one, and they will tell you they are the ultimate car. They are very very very reliable.

Don't get me wrong, the Evo's a mean motha-*****a ... I guess I'm just partial to German engineering.

I have always been a rally fan. Cannot beat the Tarmac Rallies for entertainment! This has caused a soft spot for the four door 4 wheel drive monsters.

I prefer the subie, but that is just me. I drove and evo lase weekend and thought it was a powerful *economy car* it was like a 12k car with a 20k motor. Not that there is anything wrong with that, and it did go like stink (once you finally got into the boost), but it was just not my bag in stock form. Modified a little, hmmmmm, now that could be interesting!

Cheers

Yah thats a good point Jeff, I really prefer normally aspirated motors for their feel. On the Subie I just like the looks of the Evo better. I have driven the sube but not the Evo, maybe I should before I go any farther down the path.

If I could give you any advice on an EVO, Get an EVO 9 they are making a lot more torque and quite a bit more horsepower over the EVO 8
