Option Group A97

The window sticker for my 1979 911 SC shows the following:

Option Group A97 - $2,375.00

Does anyone know what this might include?

Thanks in advance.

John, looking at the option list in the back of my Performance Handbook, I'm not seeing an option group listed. The individual options should be listed on a sticker on the underside of the hood above the latch.

Enter these numbers in the option decoder:

John -

Can you post a pic of the sticker?

I looked in the last few pages of PET and the options all started with the letter M.

Here is a scan of the sticker showing Option Group A97.

Thanks again to all for any information.

There's no M97 in PET, US or Euro.

Some of the option codes were related to the importer. There were things that were mandatory options (standard equipment, in other words) for certain markets and groups of options that the importer selected as packages. As such, they'd show up in the books that the dealers had on hand, to order the cars from. Some of this is true about colors as well, particularly the interior colors. I have a few documents from the early 80's that show some of this stuff. I think the oldest one I have is from 1982. VWOA had some small pocket-sized brochures that listed the options available for a particular year. These got handed out to prospective buyers, so they could mull over their choices. They were different than the large color brochures most people collect.

I'd sit down with a list of the options available on your car and see if I could figure out which ones are present on the car. The ones that are on the car and not specifically listed on the widow sticker ought to be in the group.

From time to time, some of the old dealer books and brochures show up on Ebay, or at auto literature vendors.

The best part...

"Annual fuel cost: $700 Based on 15 miles per gallon, 15,000 miles per year. $0.70 per gallon."
