Is this car worth 7K? Please help!

F/s 74 911s

......It is a 74 911s with a 78 3ltr installed. Unfortunately there is a problem with the motor. I talked to my mechanic and he thinks it is one of three things. 1) a broken or stuck valve spring 2) a bent valve or possibly a loose rocker 3) broken head studs. The body had steel SC flares intstalled. It has 16x6s and 16x7' with good yoko avs es100's. The body is straight and looks good but could use a repaint. Black int. S aluminum calipers.
drilled front ate rotors. new pads. lowered to euro spec with bilsteins and updated suspension from an SC. A very good option is to find a good used motor for around 3k and sell the current one as a rebuildable core for 2k. It'll make a great autocross car for around $8k

It looks promising! But, what do you guys think given that the motor is shot.

Thanks.

The paint doesnt look bad from the pictures, but I know cameras can hide some things. An engine rebuild + a paint job on top of $8K. Would $18,000 for a total investment to own this car be worth it? My #'s maybe conservative but I'm thinking $8K for the car, $6k for the engine, and $4K for the paint job. I'd think that'd be right for a repainted Porsche with a fresh engine.

3.2 or 3.0 swap is the plan. Daily driver so no pending repaint plans.

The repaint and 3.6 would be someday......!

I seriously doubt that the engine is 'shot' ... certainly repairable under $4K if you do most of the work. Given the 7:31 r&p in the '74 915, go for it! Put some Webers or MFI, 'S' cams, JE pistons in it ... and you have a rocket sled on rails!!!
