My hardline issues.
 

I have come to the conclusion that my hardlines arnt factory. I ordered 2 sets of SS lines, one set of OEM and im tired of throwing away money. Every time I try and tighten them down they keep spinning and dont tighten, for the longest time I thought I was just stripping them but the old lines on the car go back on fine every time and the new flex lines threads are buggered a tiny bit but arnt that bad. Its very weird. BTW the flex lines on the car look very very different that the lines I got from Pelican, the new lines are significantly larger in size (width not length).

Im really getting steamed up by this. Any help would be great. :mad:

My question to you guys is:

A. Are there models/years that had different (smaller) hardline ends then other years?

B. Does anyone have part brake downs of how the hard line to flex lines hook up? Im not sure but it seems that the hard line goes into what might be an adapter then through to the flex line. Is this normal?

The flex lines should mate straight to the hard lines. They should tighten completely. Sounds like somethings not right. Maybe a pic would help.

Maybe the PO installed US thd hardlines, and you are trying to mate up with metric?

David, you know what I jack up the rear on Monday and take a look. I know for SURE that there is somethiung inbetween because when we went to attach the hard line (from the rear caliper to the flex line) there was and adapter inbetween.

To answer your initial question ... remove the adapters before attempting to install new flex lines! M10 threads on the hoses aren't going to work at all with AN-3 or AN-4 threads on the adapters, as you have already found out ....

I just did my rear brakes with new hard and soft lines. I didn't change the one's at the center of the car with the spliter but on the lines to calipers I don't remember any thing between the hard to soft line connections.
