How do I test my Fuel Distributer
Here's the story I have an 88 930 turbo that spent most of its life in the Middle East. It has always been low on power and I have determined that it is fuel related due to fouling of the fuel system.
I have: Replaced the Fuel Tank Replaced the injectors Replaced the Fuel Filter Replaced the Fuel Accumulator Replaced the rear Fuel Pump Rebuilt the top end of the engine It now runs much better but with the amount of buildup in the tank/ acculator/injectors I figure that the FD is probably clagged. I have put a Fuel pressure tester on it and measured and adjusted the pressures within limits. The pumps now flow within limits too (with the new rear pump). The only component I can figure to be now restricting the fuel flow is the FD. So how do I test it? Steve

Steve,
There is a tester that may be available at some authorized Bosch repair shops. It is a strange device that measures the output of each of the ports in the fuel distributor, rather like a test of the fuel pump output. In other words, you measure how many cc's of fuel you get delivered in a set amount of time, for each cylinder. Obviously, the output for all cylinders needs to be the same. If you can't find the tester, you can probably rig up something similar. JR |

There was a recent thread by someone who opened up and cleaned his FD.
You can also do a test whereby you measure the fuel flow of each injector individually. Since your injectors are new, any anomalies would probably be from the FD.
