Have you ever been Yellow ?

I passed a road crew that was spray painting road lines.. Bad move ! They some how got yellow paint sprayed on my right rear wheel. What's the best way to remove the yellow paint without damaging the original wheel surface coat ?

Goof-off or a magic eraser but hurry. Once it sets up, it will be harder to remove.

you are asking the wrong question

call up the city/county/state maint. dept. and tell them that they disfigured your Porsche

you may have to push them, but they should pay you enough to have a professional wheel shop fix the problem -- with any luck they might kick something in to the Help Fellow Pelicans Remove Their Sugar Scoop Headlights Fund also.

You can't blame this on the gubment. If a guy decides to pass the road crew while they're spraying, it's not their fault if the wind blows some paint on him.

Try mineral spirits to get the paint off, or detailing clay. Either should work.

Yes you can. And yes you should. Same thing as your neighbor painting their fence. It's their responsibility to ensure no ones property gets damaged. There were a variety of things that could have been done to eliminate the risk to other's property. They could have stopped spraying in the wind. They could have moved the open lane over more. They could have routed everyone through a detour...

If it's worth the hassle of fighting with the government is the real question. especially if the paint is easily removed.

Baloney. I suppose if you ran off the road into a ditch while texting your girlfriend, you'd claim they're responsible for putting the ditch so close to the road. That's exactly the kind of logic you're using.

I ran over a wet white stripe (not Jack or his ex-wife) once on my Busa.

State Farm (animals) covered replacement of quite a bit!

Why are they spraying on a windy day anyway? We sprayed structures and certain wind conditions did not allow for work on days that the weather was out of spec. Had a couple of contractors that paid to paint houses and cars. City was additional insured on the contract for those very situations. that said, the City crews are similarly liable as it is an avoidable situation. It really is that simple.

I bet they will produce some obscure statute that says you aren't supposed to pass a city maintenance vehicle or some other such drivel - some battles just aren't worth the trouble. A bit of bug and tar remover will probably take care of it.

That is the bottom line, how much is your time worth. Small claims will get their attention. If the cost to defend is more than the cost of the claim, 30 bucks may get you what you deserve.

Exactly. Unless they had a valid "Do Not Pass" sign on the back of their truck.

Kerosene soaked rag worked well on my wife's car after she ran through some stripe paint...but I was able to get at it quickly. A good wash off, then a coat of wax, all was fine...

+1 on kerosene. You will need to wax the area after cleaning as kerosene is very "dry" when removed.

first off he never said it was windy,
second he says he passed
third his own fault

I work in the industry and we wont stripe if the winds are high, second a blocker is used to try to keep dorks off our butts while working , but will do it in traffic to try to keep the impact to a minimum for the motoring public.

if you take something from this please make it this,

hundreds of workers are INJURED AND MANY ARE ACTUALLY KILLED every year trying to improve the highways and back roads for you to enjoy and get to work and home on. Some do it for the pay some do it for the benefits, but most of use do it for our family, some of my crew hate there job but do it any way, some of us because it is an honest living and enjoy the work.

[SIZE="4"]so please be careful, and "give em a brake" or "slow for the cone zone" or which ever catch phrase your state has

THANK YOU

I ran over a bucket of spilled paint. Carb cleaner took it off easily. Rinse and wax afterwards.

WD 40 works about like kerosene in this situation. It's easier to obtain in the small quantity you'll likely need and it smells better.
Ask them if they'll help make your car whole, but don't expect much. I wouldn't bother with small claims court, judges tend to lean toward taxpayers unless there is very clear negligence on the part of the workers.

I would certainly try clay before anything else - the Fuchs has an anodized suface treatment, and harsh solvents can be big trouble.
