SOS - did I install the pilot bearing the wrong way?
I have an early SC motor (78 - 79) so the pilot bearing doesn't have the three bolts that connect it onto the flywheel. Instead, mine has to be pressed in. I can't seem to find a good pic of this so I had it pressed in the way I thought it should go, but now it looks wrong to me. If you know for sure, could you chime in? Below are pics of what a machine shop didfor me. Is the pilot bearing pressed in the wrong way around?

that's correct.

Sorry John. Did you mean that it is installed correctly as it is or that I installed it the wrong way? Thanks in advance.

It is installed correctly. It has to be pressed in from the side that faces the crankshaft. You can see the collar on it that goes into a recess on the side that faces the crankshaft. Don't forget to grease it.
