Need help-Front Sway Bar Removal
 

I have removed my stock rear sway bars to get ready for my new Tarrett bars...Now to the front bar...any tricks/advice I should know about before removing the fronts? I did a couple of searches and found that this task is not fun on the installation side, but how bout for the removal? Does it just slide out? Thanks! Curry

what kind of bar is on there now, a through body, or under A arm type?, and what kind are you replacing it with?

Its a under A arm bar now, installing a through body.

If it's "thru the body", just pull 'er out.......Nothing inside holding it there....

They are a ***** to install, but the damn things almost remove themselves.

You're gonna have to take one side of the suspension off, (lower A arm)or just cut it off! I managed to get one out just by loosening one side and using a BIG pry bar with two people on a lift. The new one is not hard, just take your time and make sure you drill the holes properly.

I just took the front sway bar off my 1987 Carrera a couple days ago. Taking it off is nothing. Putting it on...that is a whole other story.

Anyway, jack the front end of you car up. Place jackstands securely under your car. Remove your front wheels. Remove the two inner sway bar mounts. Lube the ends of the sway bar that protrude through the mounts on the "A" arms (I used dishwashing soap. It worked great). If you have two jacks, place one under each "A" arm to load the suspension. Use wood blocks to protect your "A" arms. You can probably do this with one jack as well. You will have to experiment with loading/unloading your suspension, but there will be a balance that allows you to muscle one side of the bar out. The other side will then be easy to remove.

Just be glad you don't have to reinstall the same bar.
