almost too embarassed to ask, but i need help.
 

ok, i have never ever done a clutch job. neither has my friend, the owner of car. we elected to install a new throwout fork. this is the start of our troubles. when we put the new fork in we carefully installed the seals, fork, and push that shaft in. then we tapped in the roll pin. we encounter resistance, but the pin went in, altho we mushroomed the end ever so slightly. we mated the tranny and engine, and installed them back in the car. HERE is the rookie part! we never measured to see if the shaft was all the way up! we were idiots and assumed that since the roll pin went in, it must be in the groove. we only discovered this when we tried to install the clutch arm, and helper spring hardware. we have maybe 1/2 inch gap! now the motor needs to be dropped again. and we need to get that roll pin out. HOW? we cannot tap it in the same direction, because of the shroomed end. no way we come the other direction, not enough swinging room. drilling is questionable because we will be drilling next to the hardened shaft. i suspect we distorted the roll pin and "wrapped" it around the shaft. is there some sort of tool similar to a chain breaking tool for bike chains that can push that pin out?

we packed up today, knowing that we were both too upset to continue. we risked damage and injury if we went on. we were too bummed to think straight. DAMN! we were feeling smug, because we didnt forget the starter ring gear. i will never make this mistake again.

If the fork can't be turned far enough to hammer out the pin, I bet we can configure a press with a C-clamp that would push the pin out.
