Thanks.

Well they are big bolts so I put a lot of torque on them. I don't have a number but I bet I use about 50 ft/lbs.

The Allen head socket screws get 35 ft-lbs.
The nuts on the F susp. cover get 21 ft-lbs. Is that it?

Are you talking about the rack spacer for a bump steer kit?
I just dug up my Weltmeister kit instructions. No torque spec listed. I guesss I must have done mine to around 35ft lbs but I really have no idea. I know you need to be creful not to gorilla tighten them. Hope this helps you,

Any bolt into aluminum gets less torque. There are some torque charts on the Net here and there, but they don't specify what aluminum, cast, forged, billet, what grade, etc. You can also get an idea by reading the torque values of various engine bolts that go directly into the case, but I don't remember any as big as the steering rack bolts which are from my memory, 10mm.
The steering rack is not subject to that much stress. I tighten those bolts about a half turn past snug with some med strength Loctitie. Make sure you have the proper length. Not catching enough thread is a sure way to pull the threads out. Check the depth with a gauge or a small stick an a pencil and then compare to your bolt. All you want is a little at the end so it doesn't bottom out. |

Did you get a kit with instructions? Follow the steps and you should be fine on the process. I just did this project too on Friday. It took me a TON longer than I thought it was going to take. As for the steering rack bolts be careful not to cross thread and DO NOT overtighten. Use blue thread lock and just snug them up as others are saying.
Another tip: The gravel pan Allen Bolts can EASILY be stripped/cross threaded. So again, when re-installing these bolts DO NOT overtighten. Here is a link to what I ran into... Help! Stripped Threads On Allen Head Bolt Good Luck!!

As you alter the height of the steering rack...you will need to loosen the universals ( either one or two) along the steering shaft to compensate for the altered height. You'll eiher ger binding or the bolts won't go in "square" through the steering rack.....and will give you difficulty.
After you adjust the rack height...don't forget to re-tighten the universal pinch bolts. - Wil
