I just lowered my 79' 911SC, put on new shocks & torsion bars all around, new adj. rear spring plates, turbo tie rods and a bump steer kit and a strut tower brace.
After balancing & alignment the road test showed a severe pull to the right. Nobody can figure out why. If you have any idea out there in internet land why this is happening or how to fix it let me know and we'll try it. Gottta find a solution i appreciate any help thanks dave |

New bushing counld be binding if not properly fit and lubricated. Also, if the corner balance is way off it could result in the pull. I experienced the exact issue which was corrected with the corner balance.

Alignment was not done correctly. Take it back.

Corner balancing was completed with the alignment. tHE SHOP THAT DID THE WORK DOES PORSCHE ONLY AND DOES ALOT OF THEM. tHEY'RE SCRATCHING THEIR HEADS TOO. THE BUSHING YOU MENTIONED IS THAT THE REAR S pLATE bUSHING? AND COULD THAT CAUSE THE PULL?

How low did you go? I had my midyear lowered with the same results-pulled right. My mechanic said that when you get lower than euro spec, some 911s will not align properly. He spent hours trying to keep my car from pulling right. Finally he raised it up just a bit and re-aligned. Problem went away.

Trouble is it only goes away when its real high like louisiana flood high. There's goota be some simple rubber bushing that my have gotten worn over the years with a real high suspension and now that i've lowered it the bushing or something gives way under dynamic loading. I just haven't fiigured out where it could be. he high ride isn't acceptable. Any further thoughts?

Pulling during "driving" or pulling during "braking" ?......

the obvious is a dragging caliper, but a good shop would have spotted that a long time ago. Same goes for a wheel bearing issue...
It soounds goofy, but rotating the tires will eliminate that as a possibility, and it's fast and easy. Double check the toe and caster settings. Check the condition of the bushings ..you said you did new spring plates so those should be fine, but what about the inner trailing arm bushing? It could lead to alignment issues. And of course, check for free suspension movement..make sure, as mentioned above, that there is no binding, or that there isn't something restricting full travel. There is a point below which you can't lower without gettting into really darty behavior. Raising spindles comes into play at that point. How far down are you?

You don't mention doing the a-arm bushings. Perhaps the lowering has put undo pressure on them and the are rubbing the new larger t-bars. They flow over time. Any reliable p-shop would have changed these with all the other upgrades.
