Streetable track tires

I see many posts for good street tires or good track tires. I am looking for a tire that will be decent on the road and really good at an autocross. I know there are compromises with each. I am debating the Toyo RA1s, I think the Yoko 048s would be too much for the road.

Any thoughts?

I know several people who run RA-1's full depth on the street.

Any feed back on what they think/regrets of running the RA1s on the street.

BF Goodrich KDs - stick like the glue in the dry, definitely don't want to use them in the wet. I've heard from many people that they are the stickiest street tire you can get.

RA-1's have been great for me. Full tread and do good in the rain.

I've run Yokohama 032Rs and more recently RA1s as my street tires for years in a number of cars. I would highly recommend the RA1s, if you can deal with the reduced wear and you know you will NEVER see snow or ice. I once gained enough altitude in the summer to find snow where I didn't expect it, and found it slipperier than I had ever imagined possible.
The pilot cups also make good road tires, but take too long to heat up at most AX events. If you are really hardcore the V700s can also work in a light car. But Toyos are IMHO the best option for most, and a number of my friends are using them as street tires.

RA1s do just fine in the street and rain. Minimal wear because they do not get hot enough on the street to melt away like on the track.

Alf,

Love your car.

Rattlsnk,

Ratio is split pretty even at 50/50 Only on the street a couple time a week, a few communtes to work and a few erronds around town

they are way out there in left field, but take a look at the Hankook track tires. they have the deepest tread of the track tires I've looked at (9/32) if you want to combine street, and come in several compounds.
have not used them, but seriously considering them because of the pricing (CHEAP)
